The Nikko AM New Asia Fund invests in securities in Asia (excluding Japan) and cash. As a guideline, the Fund will usually hold approximately 40 - 60 different securities. NAM Asia will select securities for the Fund predominantly by using a bottom-up stock selection approach, and will generally take a long-term view to investing.

Investment Objective

The Fund aims to outperform the MSCI All Country Asia ex Japan Index (in Australian Dollar terms) unhedged over the long term after fees and expenses but before taxes.

Robert Mann

Robert Mann
Head of Asian Equity

Rob heads the Asia ex-Japan equity team and is responsible for macro research. He has 36 years of experience in the securities industry. His experience spans a wide spectrum of roles including managing equities, fixed income and balanced funds, as well as product management. Rob joined the firm from Treasury Asia Asset Management (TAAM) which was acquired by Nikko AM in 2013. He was at TAAM for around 3 years where he was running an absolute return fund.

Rob holds a Bachelor of Commerce with majors in Accounting and Economics from the University of Melbourne and a Graduate Diploma from Securities Institute of Australia.


Eng-Teck Tan

Eng Teck is a senior member of the Asian equity team at Nikko AM. He leads a team responsible for growing and expanding the firm’s China equity strategy. Prior to this appointment, Eng Teck co-managed the Asia ex-Japan equity strategy at both Nikko AM and Treasury Asia Asset Management, which was acquired by Nikko AM in 2013.

A founding member of TAAM which was established in Sydney in 2005, Eng Teck set up the Singapore office of TAAM in June 2007 and relocated back to Singapore in February 2008. Prior to TAAM, Eng Teck was with Credit Suisse Asset Management in Sydney from 2003. He was an integral member of the Asian equity team and the lead portfolio manager for the Credit Suisse Greater China Fund. He was also actively involved in the successful launch and management of the Credit Suisse Asian Property Fund.

He holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) degree from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and is a Chartered Financial Analyst® charterholder.


Timothy Greaton

Timothy has 24 years of experience in the financial industry. Prior to Nikko AM based in Hong Kong, he spent more than a decade with Goldman Sachs Asia (Goldman). During his tenure at Goldman, he co-managed the Taiwan Equity product and was a technology sector sales specialist. Prior to that, he was with First State Investment Management based in Hong Kong as a senior portfolio manager managing various strategies focusing on Greater China with a sector focus on technology. Tim began his career with Credit Lyonnais International Asset Management in Hong Kong as a Greater China equity analyst and was subsequently promoted to portfolio manager. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Middlebury College, Vermont in United States of America.


Kathy Ng

Kathy covers the healthcare and industrials sectors in Asia ex-Japan. She joined the firm from Treasury Asia Asset Management (TAAM) which was acquired by Nikko AM in 2013. At TAAM Kathy started with a broad range of sectors ranging from financials to industrials to consumer before moving on to focus on healthcare and industrials in Asia ex-Japan. Kathy holds a Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) degree from Nanyang Technological University in Singapore and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder.


Ashwin Sanketh

Ashwin covers telecommunications, utilities, and industrials sectors across all markets in Asia ex-Japan. He joined the firm from Treasury Asia Asset Management (TAAM) which was acquired by Nikko AM in 2013. His most recent role prior to TAAM was with CLSA Asia-Pacific where he was promoted to head research for the Singapore office. Ashwin holds a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) from the National University of Singapore. He has attained CFA Level II.

Peter is a Portfolio Manager on the Asian equity team covering Asian financial stocks and co-manager of the New Asia Fund. He joined the firm from Treasury Asia Asset Management (TAAM) which was acquired by Nikko AM in 2013. A specialist in financial stocks across Asia and global emerging markets, Peter has twelve years of experience in the fund management industry. Peter holds a Bachelor of Aeronautical Engineering degree (1st Class Honours) from the University of Bristol and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder.


Grace Yan

Grace has 8 years of experience in the financial industry. Prior to Nikko AM, she spent more than 5 years with Deutsche Asset Management (Deutsche), where she worked as an equity analyst and assistant fund manager for the DWS Asia Small Mid-Cap Fund. During her tenure at Deutsche, she was a country specialist, focusing mainly on Korea, Taiwan and Singapore. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration majoring in Finance (First Class Honours) degree from the National University of Singapore. She is a CFA® charter holder.


Eric Khaw

Eric covers the real estate portfolios and he has 8 years of industry experience. He joined the firm from Henderson Global Investors where he was a part of the Asia Pacific property equities team which managed over US$1 billion of assets in Asia-Pacific property equities. Eric joined Henderson in early 2009 as an analyst, conducting in-depth research on Asian property securities for both the global property equities team in London as well as the Asia Pacific property equities team in Singapore. He was subsequently appointed as a Senior Analyst in 2011 and promoted to Associate Fund Manager, assisting in the managing of the Henderson Horizon Asia Pacific Property Equities Fund in 2012. Eric graduated with a BA in Economics and Operations Research from Columbia University.


Chu Kit Kwa

Chu Kit covers research in the energy and materials sector and he has 11 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Nikko AM Asia in 2014, Chu was working at MMG Limited where he was a part of MMG’s mergers and acquisitions team.  Chu joined MMG in early 2012 as a senior analyst, conducting research on global material companies and was involved in successfully executing acquisitions in excess of USD 5 billion.  Prior to working at MMG, Chu was an Analyst at AMP Capital covering the Australian resource and energy sectors. Chu Kit graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Western Australia and is a Chartered Accountant.
